Case Study: Launching Online Poker on Niké.sk
Expanding an Online Casino Portfolio with Poker
Launching an online poker platform is a strategic move for operators looking to expand their offering and increase player engagement. It introduces a competitive gaming vertical that works differently than traditional casino content and attracts a new type of audience.
That was the goal behind the poker launch on Niké.sk.
As one of the leading operators on the Slovak market, Niké decided to expand its offering by introducing a fully integrated online poker platform in cooperation with Synot Interactive. The idea was simple. Add a competitive format that works differently than standard casino play and attracts both existing users and dedicated poker players.
At the same time, the project brought an important technical milestone. It was the first time our poker solution was integrated into an external wallet environment.
Objective: Expanding Into Online Poker
The main objective was clear. Expand the product portfolio and strengthen player engagement.
With the addition of a full online poker solution, Niké aimed to:
- diversify beyond classic casino content
- attract new player segments
- increase cross product activity
- improve long term retention
Poker brings a different dynamic compared to typical iGaming content. It depends on player interaction, real time activity and liquidity. That makes it a strong addition to any online gaming platform when implemented correctly.
Delivering a Full Poker Experience from Day One
Instead of launching poker step by step, the decision was to go live with a complete solution immediately.
The platform included:
- Cash Games
- Fast Cash Games
- Tournaments
- Sit & Go formats
This approach allowed Niké to enter the online poker segment with a competitive and fully functional product right from the start. Players can experience the platform directly on Niké.sk poker section, where all game formats are available within a fully integrated environment. In the past, we also supplied solutions to Synottip within our group.

The Technical Challenge
From a player perspective, everything needed to feel smooth and simple. Behind the scenes, the situation was very different.
The biggest challenge was integrating the poker platform into an external wallet system. This had not been done before within our setup.
It required work across multiple areas:
- business analysis and architecture design
- communication between systems and balance synchronization
- handling real time transactions
- compliance requirements
- stress testing under realistic conditions
Poker platforms process a large number of actions at the same time. Every bet, every move and every balance update needs to be accurate and instant.
Maintaining stability while synchronizing data between multiple systems was one of the most critical parts of the entire project.
This is where close cooperation between both teams played a key role.
Launch and Rollout
After months of preparation and testing, the launch itself went smoothly.
To support the rollout, Niké focused on channels that already worked within its ecosystem:
- push notifications in the mobile app
- affiliate partnerships
- targeted communication towards existing players
The goal was not to force poker on users, but to introduce it naturally as another part of the platform.
Results and Performance
The online poker platform delivered solid performance shortly after launch.
The number of active players did not fully reach the initial expectations. However, revenue aligned closely with projections from the beginning. This shows that player value and monetization worked well from day one.
Player activity has developed over time with typical fluctuations. This is expected in poker and influenced by several factors:
- player acquisition
- liquidity
- seasonality
- overall maturity of the poker market
Even with these variables, poker has proven to be a strong addition to the Niké platform and created a solid base for future growth.

Online Poker Platform FAQ
An online poker platform is a software solution that allows operators to offer poker games such as cash games, tournaments, and Sit & Go formats. It includes player management, game logic, real-time interactions, and financial transactions within a single system.
Adding an online poker platform helps operators expand their offering and attract a different type of player. Poker increases engagement through real-time interaction and can improve long-term retention compared to standard casino games.
Poker platforms require real-time processing of player actions and financial transactions. Integration becomes more complex when connected to external systems, such as wallet infrastructure, where accuracy and synchronization are critical.
External wallet integration means that the gaming platform is connected to a separate wallet system that manages player balances and transactions. This requires continuous communication between systems to ensure that every transaction is processed correctly and instantly.
The implementation timeline depends on the complexity of the integration, especially when external systems are involved. Projects like the Niké case typically require several months of development, testing, and coordination between teams.
Performance depends on several factors, including player liquidity, acquisition strategy, market maturity, and overall platform stability. A well-integrated poker solution with strong infrastructure is key to long-term success.
